More often than not, what we think of others says more about us than about them. Some opinions shaped by our mental framework – purely based on how much effort we have put into enriching it. Other opinions shaped by what fits our own narrative i.e. what is the story we want to tell ourselves – note that we’re seldom as objective and rational as we’d like to think we are.
Of course this works both ways. And hence, important to remember when we try to adapt to an environment. If we consciously evaluate others’ opinions against our values and the time it would take to “fix” the impression, we’ll see which ones are actually worth the effort.
