On Regret

Choose whichever path you may, you’d be missing out on a hundred others. Regretting not taking a different path is quite useless because that’s essentially saying – all else being equal, if I’d just made this one choice differently, then my life would’ve been brilliantly different. Well.. All else wasn’t ever going to be the same. Life and its choices are way more complex than that.

If at any given point of time you are doing what you truly want to do, then there is no place for regret.  If you think you made a decision because you didn’t know enough – there’s still no guarantee that you would’ve made a different decision by having known any more. Sometimes, when we have the luxury of hindsight story telling, we just like to imagine ourselves as rational beings under alternate circumstances.

Its like taking yourself back in time but trying to keep everything else constant. You can’t be your current self and the past self both at the same time.
